A drug dealer who tried to flee from police during a school alarm call has been sentenced to more than two years in prison.

Declan Gordon, 25, attempted to run from officers who were responding to an alarm activation at a school in Gilfach in the early hours of Sunday 1st June.

The 25-year-old from Bargoed was caught by officers with cocaine worth approximately £16,000, weighing scales and snap seal bags, demonstrating his role in the supply of class A drugs.

Gordon previously pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place.

He was sentenced to two years and three months in prison after appearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday 28th July. ⚖️

Police said: “Drug supply will not be tolerated in Gwent: we’re committed to protecting our communities from the devastating effects of illegal drugs, which can often ruin lives, exploit vulnerable members of society and often lead to other forms of criminal activity.”

“If you have any information about people involved in illegal drug activity, please call us on 101, or direct message us on social media. You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
