Three people from Birmingham have been arrested after threats were made against several secondary schools in Cardiff over a four-day period.
South Wales Police confirmed that a 44-year-old woman, a 47-year-old man, and a 12-year-old boy were detained on suspicion of bomb hoax offences under the Criminal Law Act 1977. All three remain in police custody.
The threats were directed at secondary schools in the city between March 15 and March 18, 2026.
Reassurance from police
Assistant Criminal Commissioner Thomas Williams moved to reassure families, saying: “We understand the considerable concern this incident has caused parents and the community. We take these reports extremely seriously and investigations are ongoing.”
He added: “I would also like to reassure families that there remains no evidence of any persons attending any of the schools involved posing a threat. We continue working closely with our partners and thank the schools, parents and the wider community for their support and understanding.”
Investigations into the threats are continuing.
