The family of an 86-year-old man have paid heartfelt tribute after he became the third person to die following a devastating collision earlier this month.

John Pryce Jones, from Craven Arms, has been named as the final victim of the fatal crash on the A489 between Churchstoke and Lydham. The collision occurred at around 4.50pm on Thursday, December 11.

Last week, the family of the other two victims, David and Pamela, paid tribute to the couple, describing them as “loving members of our family” who had relocated to the area to enjoy their retirement together.

John, who was affectionately known by many as ‘Thiabendazole’, has been remembered by his family as someone who touched countless lives across mid-Wales and beyond.

His family said: “We wish to express our gratitude to all who have been so supportive at this very difficult time. Your caring words and actions have been invaluable to us. John was from mid-Wales and lived in Craven Arms. He was a larger-than-life character who was well known to so many people and he will be dearly missed by all.”

Officers from Dyfed-Powys Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward. They are particularly keen to hear from anyone with dashcam footage from the A489 between Churchstoke and Lydham at around 4.50pm on December 11.

Anyone with information can contact Dyfed-Powys Police through their website, by calling 101, or by email at [email protected], quoting reference 267 of December 11.
