A Pontcanna teenager has been sentenced to nine years after using the internet to exploit children and share indecent images with other offenders. Alexander Davies, 18, appeared at Cardiff Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to 16 offences.
Police discovered Davies’ activities after tracking an anonymous Discord account that had uploaded indecent images. A subsequent raid on his home revealed hundreds of illegal images across his devices.
Davies continued to contact a 12-year-old victim even after being released on bail with conditions not to do so. He later described himself to police as an “online predator”.
Judge Paul Hopkins KC noted: “She was, of course, 12 years of age. You were an adult. You described yourself as a father figure to her.”
In a victim impact statement, one of the young victims said Davies had “pretended to be someone else” and made her feel like she was in a relationship with him. She now struggles to trust anyone and feels angry at herself and “very confused”.
The judge imposed an extended sentence of nine years, including six years in custody, along with a lifelong sexual harm prevention order. ⚖️
