South Wales Police are investigating after two separate reports of “suspicious approaches” to teenage girls in the Rhydyfelin area of Pontypridd on Monday evening. 👮‍♀️

The first incident occurred just after 7:45pm when a 14-year-old girl was approached by two men on the footpath in Morien Crescent near the park. The second incident happened at approximately 11:30pm at the same location, when a 16-year-old girl reported being approached by two men. Police have confirmed that no physical contact was made in either case.

Authorities have released a description of the suspects, stating: “The men are described as being black, tall, with one wearing a dark coat and the other wearing a dark hoodie. Both had their hoods up.”

Neighbourhood Inspector Leigh Parfitt said: “Incidents of this nature are rare and no physical contact was reported. Nonetheless I completely understand the concern it has caused the community of Rhydyfelin, and over social media, in relation to these incidents.

“We are taking these incidents seriously and officers are continuing with their enquiries to establish the full circumstances. I encourage anyone with concerns to contact us directly. There will be an increase in neighbourhood officers patrolling the area to provide visible reassurance.”

Police are conducting an investigation including house-to-house inquiries and reviewing Ring doorbell footage from homes in the area. Anyone with information is urged to contact police via 101, online, or by live chat, quoting occurrence 2500077108. 🔍
