An 18-year-old caught red-handed dealing heroin and crack cocaine in Swansea Marina has been sentenced to three years detention after a judge warned him he was “living off the misery of others” 📱⚖️

Morgan Mason of Heol Calfin, Ravenhill, was arrested in June after police spotted him with two other males in the marina area. When officers approached, Mason ran off, discarding a burner phone used for the “Diesel” county lines operation.

Swansea Crown Court heard Mason was carrying £670 in cash and 25 wraps of heroin and crack worth up to £950. The discarded phone had sent “substantial” numbers of bulk messages advertising Class A drugs throughout the first half of 2025.

The court was told Mason had walked out with a suspended sentence for grievous bodily harm just two months before his arrest. His barrister said Mason’s cannabis addiction led to him “dabbling with more serious drugs” and that he had been “led by persons who are more criminally minded than him”.

Judge Geraint Walters told Mason that heroin and crack were “wicked” drugs that blight lives and communities. He said: “You have to make your mind up, young man. You have set yourself on a path which, if you continue to follow, I can safely predict will result in you spending much of your life in prison. You will be committing yourself to a miserable life going in and out of prison. Think about your mother.”

Mason received two years and eight months for the drugs offences, with four months of his suspended sentence activated consecutively, making a total of three years detention.
