Luke Jones, 28, from Fairfield Close, Cwmbach, Aberdare, has been sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison after a collision exposed his drug dealing operation.

On 23 October at Merthyr Crown Court, Jones was convicted of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs (crack cocaine and heroin) and possession of Class B drugs (cannabis).

The case began on the evening of 3 August when police were called to a collision in Llwydcoed where a Vauxhall Tigra had overturned through a fence. Witnesses saw Jones, with blood on his face, attempting to flee the scene whilst picking up small white objects from the ground – later confirmed to be drug wraps.

Officers already in the area quickly located Jones outside a Chinese takeaway. Despite claiming he’d been injured in a bike accident, his erratic behaviour and conflicting stories aroused suspicion.

A search of Jones’s home uncovered additional drug wraps, £2,315 in cash, and drug paraphernalia. The court has ordered forfeiture of the seized cash, which will support local initiatives to combat drug use and trafficking. Jones’s car has been destroyed.
