A man from Swansea has been jailed for six years after he travelled more than 200 miles to Kent planning to meet a child for sexual activity.
Timothy Boorman, 60, from Killay, began speaking to a child online before making the journey from his home to north Kent on August 13. Officers believe he travelled the considerable distance with the intention of engaging in sexual activity with the child.
When Boorman arrived in north Kent, he was intercepted by Kent Police officers and arrested before being taken into custody. He was subsequently charged with offences including arranging the commission of the rape of a child.
The 60-year-old pleaded guilty at his first appearance at Maidstone Crown Court. On Friday, November 14, Boorman was sentenced to six years in prison and made subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
Investigating officer PC Aimee Edwards said: “Boorman is a danger to children and was prepared to travel a considerable distance to commit appalling offences. He was intercepted by our patrols and was placed before the court at the earliest opportunity. When this criminal is released from prison he will be subject to a strict court order that imposes conditions on his ongoing conduct. He will then receive regular unannounced visits from officers who will be checking he is complying with these restrictions.”
