A paedophile has pleaded guilty to three child sex offences after being duped into thinking he was talking online with a 13-year-old girl called Maisie.

Jacques Fletcher, 24, of Comfrey Close, Newport, admitted attempting to incite a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity, attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, and attempting to cause a child aged 13 to 15 to watch or look at an image of sexual activity.

The defendant’s offences were committed between July and August last year.

Fletcher appeared at Cardiff Crown Court where his case was adjourned until November 21 for a pre-sentence report. He was granted conditional bail.

Fletcher was represented by Julia Cox whilst Clare Wilks appeared for the prosecution.
