A persistent shoplifter has been sentenced to more than five months behind bars after repeatedly stealing from a Sainsbury’s store in Flint.

Stuart Hampson, 49, of no fixed abode, was found guilty of seven counts of shoplifting at the supermarket. His arrest came as a result of targeted policing efforts carried out in partnership with the store.

Hampson was remanded into custody and has now been sentenced to 22 weeks in prison.

PC Dan Reilly said: “Working under Op Bastion, we apprehended Hampson, and I welcome that he has been convicted and sentenced to prison.

“We will continue to target offenders under Op Bastion to protect retailers in the Flintshire north area.”

The case was brought as part of Operation Bastion, a North Wales Police initiative focused on tackling retail crime across the region.
