Roath man jailed 30 years for child rape offences

A 45-year-old man from Roath has been jailed for 30 years after being found guilty of multiple rapes of a child.

Nadeen Shazad pleaded not guilty to 17 offences against him but was found guilty following a week-long trial at Cardiff Crown Court in June.

He was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court today to three decades in prison.

Detective Sergeant Gravell said: “These are horrific offences against the most vulnerable of victims.

“I want to commend the victim for their incredible bravery and the courage they showed in coming forward, sharing what had happened, and supporting the investigation.

“I hope that the outcome at court brings them some comfort that the offender has been brought to justice and that their bravery has helped protect the wider public from harm.”
