A Boxing Day night out turned violent when Stefan Cambriani attacked a fellow customer at Whitez sports bar in Swansea’s Uplands, pushing him down a flight of stairs after accusing him of taking his drink.

The victim was found unconscious and bleeding at the foot of the stairs, with initial fears of cardiac arrest. He was rushed to Morriston Hospital where he received stitches for a 6cm wound near his eye.

Swansea Crown Court heard that Cambriani, 34, put the victim in a headlock before forcefully pushing him down the stairs. When challenged by a woman, he laughed and called her a “slag”.

Defence barrister James Hartson said: “It was disappointing that he should find himself in the dock after a 10 year gap over something as innocuous and inconsequential as a mistake about someone taking his drink.”

Several elderly neighbours provided references describing Cambriani as “polite, helpful, and responsible.”

Recorder Christian Jowett sentenced Cambriani to nine months in prison, noting there was “no realistic prospect of rehabilitation.” The defendant, from Carnglas Road, Tycoch, had previously pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding. 👨‍⚖️
