A 47-year-old from Risca has been sentenced to a year behind bars after repeatedly ignoring a court order designed to protect a woman from unwanted contact.

The offence

Llewellyn Tudball, of Longbridge Court, Risca, used text messages and social media to reach out to the victim over a period spanning January 20 to January 30 – despite a restraining order explicitly forbidding him from doing so.

The order had been put in place on June 11 last year, and this was already the fourth time Tudball had violated its terms.

Sentencing

Appearing before Newport Magistrates’ Court, Tudball admitted the breach. He was handed a 12-month custodial sentence and ordered to pay £85 in costs upon his release.
