A prolific shoplifter has been jailed for 24 weeks following an investigation by Rumney Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Liam Chadwick, 38, admitted 16 charges of theft from shops in St Mellons and Llanrumney, including Greggs, One Stop Shop, Boots, Morrisons, Heron Foods, and Tesco.
Items stolen since 1 November included toiletries, meat, chocolate, household cleaning items, and sandwiches, totalling more than £1,400.
Chadwick appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on 8 December, where he was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison.
A South Wales Police spokesperson said: “Shoplifting can have a devastating impact on shopworkers and retailers. We hope this update reassures the local business community of our commitment to tackle shoplifting.”
