Gwent Police’s Caerphilly Central Neighbourhood Team carried out Operation Harley yesterday at Wattsville Sirhowy Valley Country Park, targeting illegal off-road vehicle use following complaints from councillors, residents and the council 🚫🌳

The crackdown was launched due to the area becoming a hotspot for illegal off-road activity. Police say these vehicles damage the land, disturb wildlife habitats, cause disturbance to local communities, and put road users and pedestrians at risk.

Officers worked alongside the Rural Crime Team, Natural Resources Wales and Countryside Rangers from Caerphilly County Borough Council, liaising with local residents to prevent and deter off-road vehicle use in the countryside.

Operation Results: ✅ 4 off-road bikes seized ✅ 1 driver reported for no insurance

In a separate incident on the same day, officers in the Crosskeys area carried out stop searches under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, seizing a quantity of cannabis from a group of males.

Police encourage anyone with concerns about illegal off-road vehicles to report through their website, Facebook page, or by calling 101 📱
