Pontypool stalker jailed for sending 143 messages in a day

A Pontypool man has been jailed for 40 weeks after bombarding a woman with 143 messages in just 24 hours and turning up at her home uninvited.

Gordon Watkins, 42, was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court after pleading guilty to stalking and aggravated vehicle taking in a Ford Fiesta on the A40, A449 and the A4042.

The offences took place between 1st May 2024 and 11th July 2024.

Judge Eugene Egan handed down the 40-week prison sentence and banned Watkins from driving for 12 months following his release from custody.

Watkins, formerly of Maple Crescent, Sebastopol, was also made subject to a restraining order and must pay a £187 surcharge.
