A 26-year-old woman from Pontardawe has been sentenced to prison after breaching a restraining order by screaming abuse at her ex-partner from a moving vehicle. 😠
Charlotte Cotterrell was found guilty of harassment after she shouted abusive language at her former partner whilst leaning out of the passenger window as he walked on the pavement. The incident violated a harassment order that had previously been imposed against her by the victim.
Despite pleading not guilty to the offence, Cotterrell was convicted in court in April and has now been sentenced to 14 months and 12 weeks in prison. This comprises 12 weeks for breaching the restraining order and 14 months for a previously imposed ABH sentence against the victim being activated.
Sergeant Mark Bateman said: “Nobody should have to go through continued harassment from their partner, especially when they are no longer in a relationship with them. Charlotte Cotterrell has showed immaturity and a complete lack of control over her emotions. This will have been highly distressing for the victim, towards whom she has already previously been physically violent. Hopefully she thinks about her choices in prison and makes some much-needed changes to her life.” ⚖️
