A Pembrokeshire father and daughter who made almost £117,000 through a sophisticated commercial production line of cannabis gummies have been ordered to pay back just £1,750.

John Miles, 52, and his 28-year-old daughter Chay Miles of Primrose Drive in Haverfordwest were sentenced to three years and 27 months in prison respectively last October for their operation.

Chay’s boyfriend Kyle Gadsby, 20, received six months for his part in the operation, plus an additional 21 months for offences in Northampton.

The family business was discovered when sorting office staff in Merlin’s Bridge intercepted a package smelling strongly of cannabis addressed to Primrose Drive. Inside was a container of cannabis distillate. 🔍

Police raided the address and uncovered branded packaging, bottles of distillate, and kilograms of sweets – with 11.51kg already infused with cannabis and another 14.11kg waiting to be prepared.

A drug expert valued the haul between £11,820 and £19,666.

At a Proceeds of Crime Act hearing at Swansea Crown Court, John Miles was determined to have benefitted by £44,205.73, while his daughter profited by £72,779.93. However, the court heard John has just £1,492.50 in available assets, while Chay has only £260.

Gadsby benefitted by £21,522.94 and must repay £1,941.33.

Customers on Instagram and Snapchat had left reviews praising the products as “f****** banging” and complimenting the speed of delivery.

Police warned parents about drug-laced ‘sweets’ that could appeal to children following the bust.

Judge Huw Rees described it as “a very serious matter of commercial enterprise of the supply of cannabis edibles” and a “sophisticated” operation constituting a “production line with the sweets in various stages of production.”

John Miles had only been out of prison for four months when the raid occurred, having previously been jailed for cocaine and cannabis supply offences. His daughter and her boyfriend had no previous convictions.
