A Pembroke Dock man has been sentenced to one year in prison after admitting to defrauding a vulnerable victim out of thousands of pounds and stealing his bank card 💳⚖️

Alfie Shelley, 26, of Market Street, was jailed at Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to two offences of theft and fraud by false representation.

The court heard that Shelley stole the victim’s bank card and £9.50 on 2 September 2023, followed by the same man’s card and £12 on 12 September that year. He was also accused of dishonestly making false representations to cause his victim financial loss.

Shelley’s victim was described as “vulnerable” and the prosecution stated that the offences had a “serious detrimental impact” on him.

After pleading guilty to all charges on 29 April, magistrates determined that the offences were so serious that only a custodial sentence could be justified.

In addition to the one-year prison term, Shelley must pay £3,502 in compensation and £85 in costs.
