Vishnu Remadevi, 39, from Old Colwyn, has been sentenced to 11 years and six months in prison for a catalogue of serious offences committed against two victims.

Remadevi had maintained his innocence throughout the police investigation, denying every charge and accusing both victims of conspiring to fabricate allegations against him. He ultimately reversed his position and entered guilty pleas on the opening day of his trial.

The offences

Remadevi admitted to rape, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault, threatening with a bladed article, intentional strangulation, and controlling and coercive behaviour.

How the case unfolded

North Wales Police launched their investigation in November 2025 after receiving a report of a sexual assault at a residential property. As the victim provided their account to officers, it became apparent that the person who had accompanied them for support was also a victim of Remadevi – having been subjected to rape, assault, and sustained physical and psychological abuse, as well as having their mobile phone tracked.

Police response

Detective Constable Catherine Farrington said after the sentencing: “This was a disturbing case where Remadevi carried out a series of serious offences over a sustained period of time.

“I would like to pay tribute to the bravery of the victims for coming forward, despite the prospect of having to give evidence in Court. I hope they feel vindicated and that the sentence will give them some comfort.

“Violence against women and girls (VAWG) is a force priority and we always take any such reports seriously.
