A 32-year-old man has received an extended prison sentence after a jury convicted him of rape at Cardiff Crown Court.
The trial
Kyle Plummer, of Beddau, maintained his innocence on a single charge of rape. However, a jury returned a guilty verdict after hearing evidence over three days in April.
The offence
The rape took place at a property in Beddau in 2023.
Sentencing
Plummer was handed an extended sentence totalling six years and six months. A 10-year restraining order was also imposed.
Police response
Detective Constable Davies of South Wales Police said: “I would like to thank the victim in this case for coming forward and for being courageous throughout the process of this investigation. Because of her, we have been able to convict a man who is clearly a threat to women. I can only hope that this helps her to move on from this in a more positive way and gain some form of closure.
“If you are the victim of a sexual offence, we urge you to report it to the police as soon as possible. You will be supported, and officers will treat all reports with sensitivity and professionalism.”
