A 53-year-old man has admitted a child sex offence after he attempted to engage in sexual communication with someone he believed was a 13-year-old girl.
Gerry Govier, of Neath Abbey Grove, Newport, pleaded guilty to the charge at Cardiff Crown Court.
The offence
The court heard the offence involved a decoy and was committed between July 18, 2023 and August 11, 2023.
Next steps
Govier’s sentencing was adjourned to April 17 to allow a pre-sentence report to be prepared. He was ordered to register as a sex offender and granted unconditional bail.
