South Wales Police have released the mugshot of Marcus Hadley, 35, who has been sentenced to five years in prison for a horrific campaign of abuse against his ex-partner.

The Rogerstone resident was found guilty at Newport Crown Court of multiple charges, including assault occasioning actual bodily harm and making threats to kill.

In a chilling incident last July, Hadley invaded his ex-partner’s bedroom, wielding a knife and issuing death threats. Judge Daniel Williams detailed the terrifying ordeal: “You were asked to leave, but you refused. As she lay on her bed you went upstairs, grabbed her by her hair, bit her face and produced a knife and you threatened to kill her.”

The court heard disturbing evidence of repeated strangulation attacks, controlling behaviour, and physical abuse throughout their relationship, which began after meeting on a dating app. The abuse escalated to such severity that the victim’s brother began maintaining a vigil outside her home for her protection.

During sentencing, Hadley showed no remorse, rolling his eyes as the prosecution read his ex-partner’s impact statement describing her ongoing battles with PTSD, insomnia, and depression.

Hadley will serve half his sentence in custody before release on licence, with a five-year restraining order to be activated upon release.
