A 50-year-old man from Newport has appeared in court after being caught sending sexual material to someone he believed was an underage girl.
The sting
Neil Faulkner was snared through an online operation in which he engaged in conversations with what he thought was a schoolgirl under the age of 16. The chats were part of a sting, and no real child was involved.
What the court heard
Newport Magistrates’ Court was told Faulkner had sent images and a video of himself displaying his genitalia, along with footage showing movement beneath his underwear.
He pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child on June 27 last year.
Next steps
The case was adjourned to May 11 to allow for the preparation of a pre-sentence report. Faulkner, of Clayton Street, Newport, was released on conditional bail in the meantime.
