A 20-year-old man from Merthyr Tydfil has been sentenced to three years in prison after police discovered 40 wraps of cocaine hidden in his underwear.

Johnny Morgan was stopped by officers whilst driving his red Volvo on Avenue De Clichy last October. Messages on his phone revealed he was en route to complete a drug deal.

Officers noticed Morgan fidgeting in his groin area during questioning. When challenged, he surrendered 40 wraps of cocaine concealed in his underwear.

Investigation of three seized mobile phones showed Morgan regularly messaging 413 contacts, offering crack cocaine and ‘flake’ – high purity cocaine. He also demanded customers’ bank cards and PINs as payment guarantees.

Detective Sergeant Gareth Jenkins said: “Johnny Morgan was a significant player in the supply of cocaine to people in the area. He was instructing people to make crack cocaine and also taking people’s bank cards, no doubt taking advantage of people made vulnerable through drug addiction and drug debt.

“He is a young man who we believe has been dealing drugs for some time. Whilst the appeal of quick riches are too tempting for some, it is only a matter of time before their choices come back to haunt them. At 20 years-old, Johnny Morgan will spent a considerable amount of time behind bars, which is where he belongs.”

Morgan pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine, possessing crack cocaine with intent to supply, and producing crack cocaine. ⚖️
