A 39-year-old man has been jailed for 10 months after admitting to a campaign of harassment against his neighbours in Llanfairpwllgwyngyll.

Osian Scott, of Lon Y Wennol, appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on 6 March where he pleaded guilty to harassment without violence.

The harassment

The court heard that on 19 January, Scott threatened his neighbours outside their home. He was arrested the same day on suspicion of a public order offence and released on bail with conditions not to contact the victims.

However, Scott ignored those conditions and continued targeting the family – shouting at them whenever they ventured outside and hurling eggs and stones into their garden.

His behaviour left the family terrified of leaving their home unaccompanied and fearing for the safety of their child.

Sentencing

Scott, who was already serving a suspended sentence for a separate offence at the time, was jailed for 10 months. He was also made subject to a three-year restraining order to protect the victims.

District Inspector Wayne Francis said: “Despite already serving a suspended sentence for a separate offence, Scott continued a tirade of harassment against his neighbours who should have felt safe and secure in their own home.

“Instead, they experience fear and distress as a result of Scott’s unacceptable behaviour.

“I hope this sentence brings them some reassurance that justice has been served and that they can move forwards in their lives.”
