A 43-year-old man who exposed himself and performed a sexual act for 10 minutes at Swansea’s Quadrant bus station has been sentenced to six months in prison.

Mark Jones, of Carlton Terrace, Mount Pleasant, pleaded guilty to outraging public decency following the incident on February 1, where he laid on the floor and pleasured himself in front of passengers waiting for a London coach. 🚌👮

The court heard that when a security guard monitoring CCTV told Jones to leave, he refused and continued the inappropriate behaviour until police arrived, at which point he fled before being arrested in St Mary’s Square.

Upon arrest, Jones told officers he couldn’t recall the events but was “disgusted” by his actions, yet contradictorily stated he would “go back to the bus station and carry on” if released.

Swansea Crown Court was informed Jones has 19 previous convictions for 32 offences, including multiple incidents of indecent assault of children, exposure, and outraging public decency. He has also breached a sexual harm prevention order six times.

Judge Huw Rees told the defendant he had engaged in “filthy behaviour” and warned that “if he continues to behave in such ways the custodial sentences he receives will get longer and longer.”

With time served on remand, Jones has “more or less” completed his sentence and is likely to be released on licence soon.

He will return to court on May 16 regarding issues with his sexual harm prevention order.
