A 42-year-old man has been jailed after he was caught carrying a kitchen knife with a 20cm blade inside a pub in Abergele.

Stephen Evans, of Maes Canol, Abergele, was sentenced to 16 weeks’ imprisonment at Mold Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, February 7.

He admitted to three charges – possession of a bladed article in public, fraud by false representation, and threatening behaviour.

The court heard that Evans had been at The Harp pub on Market Street carrying the kitchen knife on Thursday, February 5.

🔹 Fraud and threatening behaviour

Evans was also sentenced for fraudulently using a bank card belonging to a woman, Sharron Green, spending £1,522.08 on it between December 22 and 29, 2025.

He had also used threatening behaviour towards Ms Green on December 30.

The court heard Evans had committed an “abuse of trust” and showed a “flagrant disregard for court orders”.

At the time of these offences, Evans was already serving a suspended custodial sentence for a previous matter.
