A 60-year-old man has been charged after the body of a woman in her 80s was discovered at a property in the seaside town of Porthcawl.
South Wales Police were called to an address on Poplar Crescent on Tuesday, February 17 following concerns for the welfare of a woman. Officers attended the scene at around 1:45pm and found the woman dead inside the property.
Christopher Phillips, 60, from Porthcawl, has since been charged with preventing a lawful burial. The woman, also from Porthcawl, has not yet been publicly identified.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “South Wales Police attended an address on Poplar Crescent, Porthcawl at 1:45pm on Tuesday, February 17 after a call concerning the welfare of a woman.
“A woman in her 80s from Porthcawl was found dead within the property.
“Christopher Phillips, 60, from Porthcawl has been charged with preventing a lawful burial. Investigations into the death are on-going.”
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death remain ongoing.
