A 44-year-old Newport man has been barred from entering Friars Walk shopping centre after admitting to killing a wild bird in the city.
The charges
Leigh Dixon pleaded guilty at Newport Magistrates’ Court to killing a non-Schedule 1 wild bird – an offence under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. He also admitted a separate public order offence committed on the same date.
Bail conditions
Both offences took place on Friday, April 17. As a condition of his bail, Dixon has been prohibited from attending the Friars Walk shopping centre.
What happens next
Dixon, of Ribble Walk, Bettws, Newport, is due to return to court for sentencing on June 3. He was represented by Rhys Davies, with Nicholas Evans appearing for the prosecution.
