Welsh Labour has dropped to fifth place in a new survey of voting intentions for the Senedd election, with just 10% support – less than half the 18% the party recorded in a previous poll last June.
The Find Out Now poll, carried out between April 18 and 22, places Plaid Cymru at the top on 29%, two points clear of Reform UK on 27%. The Welsh Conservatives sit third on 13%, with the Green Party on 11% and the Welsh Liberal Democrats on 6%.
NHS concerns
Voters were also asked whether they believed the NHS would be safe under a Reform-led government. Of those polled, 55% said it would not be, compared with just 16% who said it would. With undecided respondents stripped out, that gap widened significantly to 77% against 23%.
How the poll was conducted
The survey was based on a sample of 2,012 adults across Great Britain. Results were weighted to reflect the Welsh population by age, gender, region, Welsh language ability and 2024 general election vote.
Only those who said they were “definitely” or “very likely” to vote were counted in the headline figures. Respondents who answered “don’t know” were asked again, and any still undecided were removed from the final calculation. People who did not vote at the last general election were also excluded unless they said they were certain to vote this time.
The poll was commissioned by Plaid Cymru, though Find Out Now said its methodology was consistent with its previous Welsh polling.
How it compares
An Ipsos poll published earlier this week also placed Plaid Cymru in front, but with a wider gap – 30% to Reform UK’s 25%. That survey put Labour on 15% and the Conservatives on 12%, pointing to a stronger position for Labour and a more competitive battle for second place than the latest figures suggest.
Taken together, both polls indicate Plaid Cymru leading the field, but the Find Out Now results suggest a closer contest with Reform UK and a steeper fall in Labour support – highlighting how volatile the race remains ahead of polling day.
