Officers from South Wales Police carried out a major operation across several areas of Cardiff on Thursday, February 26, targeting illegal e-bikes and dangerously ridden vehicles.
Teams were deployed alongside Cardiff Council partners to Whitchurch, Ely, Canton, Riverside and the city centre as part of ongoing efforts to tackle anti-social riding on the capital’s streets.
More than 40 e-bikes were inspected in the city centre, with seven found to be illegal. A total of 13 vehicles were seized during the day’s operation.
Beyond the vehicle checks, a man was arrested in Ely on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs. Five further people who were wanted on warrant for failing to appear at court were also arrested.
The operation follows similar action last month, when 55 vehicles were seized over two days.
Inspector Tim Ursell said: “These are more great results that will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the members of local communities whose lives are continually disrupted by the dangerous and anti-social riding of off-road and illegal road vehicles.
“Combating anti-social behaviour is a key pillar of the Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee with this op showing our continued commitment in Cardiff to tackling this issue.”
