🚨 A Monmouthshire man has been jailed after launching a vicious assault on a grandfather, repeatedly striking him with a pickaxe handle in Gilwern.
Richard Cook, 45, attacked Robert Price in his front garden following an earlier dispute with the victim’s wife over their grandchildren playing outside.
“I am going to f****** kill you,” Cook shouted before the assault, which only ended when neighbours intervened.
Mr Price suffered multiple head wounds requiring stitches and glue. In his statement to the court, he said: “I’m having flashbacks, dreams and panic attacks which take some minutes to recover from. I have permanent headaches and a stiff shoulder. it’s had a lasting impact on my family, particularly my wife and my grandchildren who are no longer able to stay at my home.”
Cook, of Broadmead, Gilwern, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to four years and three months imprisonment at Cardiff Crown Court.
