Shujer Hussain, 45, is beginning a three-and-a-half-year prison sentence after wraps of cocaine and heroin were recovered from his Newport home. He was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday 17 July.
Inside the property
Officers from Gwent Police’s Serious Organised Crime (SOC) unit searched Hussain’s address in June this year, acting on reports that had reached the force about his involvement in drug supply. Cash and a number of burner phones were recovered alongside the drugs.
Building the case
What officers took from the property, set against messages stored on Hussain’s phone, established that he had been supplying crack cocaine and heroin at street level.
What police said
The officer in the case, PC Daniel Cleland, said:
“The supply of illegal drugs has a devastating impact on our communities.
“We hope this sentence shows that tackling drug-dealing remains a priority for us and that information supplied by the public helps us build up a clear picture of where offences are taking place so we can plan and carry out proactive operations to arrest those responsible.”
