Family tribute to man who died after Ebbw Vale assault

The family of a 37-year-old man who died following an assault outside a pub in Ebbw Vale has described him as “one of a kind with the kindest of hearts”.

Marcus Lee Carpenter, from Tredegar, was fatally injured during an incident outside The Picture House in Bethcar Street between 11.30pm on Friday 20 February and 12.15am on Saturday 21 February.

He was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries but sadly died. His family is being supported by specialist officers.

A 30-year-old man from Cardiff has been charged with manslaughter. He appeared before Newport Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 26 February and was remanded into custody.

Mr Carpenter’s family has paid the following tribute to him:

“Beloved son, partner and dad.

“Marcus was one of a kind with the kindest of hearts who would help anyone out he could.

“His passing has left a massive hole in the lives of everyone close to him.

“Please give the family time to grieve at this heartbreaking time.”
