A horrific workplace assault at Pritchard’s factory in Llantrisant has resulted in life-changing injuries for Shaun Davies after he was viciously attacked by colleague Nicholas Walsh, 54.

The unprovoked attack on September 17 began with inappropriate behaviour by Walsh, escalating when Davies stood up to his bully. Walsh responded by kicking Davies in the chin and neck with steel toe-capped boots before jumping from his work station to continue the assault.

Davies was rushed to hospital, where he remained in a coma for three days. He now faces a lifetime of medication and has been unable to return to work due to severe depression.

In his ruling at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court, Judge Jeremy Jenkins said: “That hadn’t been the first time you had behaved like that towards him. In previous incidents it had been brushed off or ignored by Mr Davies but on that particular day he had tired of your behaviour towards him, he stood up to you and told you to f*** off.”

Despite claims of acting “impulsively”, Walsh, who has eight previous convictions including assault, was sentenced to four years and nine months imprisonment. He will serve two-thirds of his sentence before being eligible for release on licence. 💼⚖️
