A major drug operation in Ely has been dismantled as Shaquille Hatim, 24, faces 78 months behind bars.
Hatim, the mastermind behind the ‘Alfie’ drug line, was arrested on Mill Road in April 2024 after undercover officers observed him selling drugs. A subsequent raid on his property uncovered 41 wraps of crack cocaine, £27,989 in cash, and 5,065 Euros.
Evidence suggests Hatim established the ‘Alfie’ line following the shutdown of the ‘S’ line in January 2024. His operation extended beyond Ely, reaching customers across south Wales.
Hatim pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including drug supply and possession of criminal property. He was sentenced on Friday, 4 October.
Detective Inspector John Smith commented, “This sentencing marks a significant victory in our ongoing efforts to disrupt drug supply chains in our community. We remain committed to keeping our streets safe from the harm caused by illegal substances.”
