A 28-year-old man is set to be sentenced after admitting he intended to supply cannabis following a police raid in Cwmbran.
Jordan Bowen, of no fixed abode, Oakfield, Cwmbran, pleaded guilty at Newport Magistrates’ Court to possession with intent to supply the class B drug on June 2 last year.
The court hearing
The case has been adjourned so a pre-sentence report can be prepared, with the court keeping “all options open” – meaning a custodial sentence remains a possibility.
Bowen was granted unconditional bail and is due to return to court on March 10.
Community effort
Following Bowen’s arrest, Gwent Police’s PC Kyle Rodway, the officer in the case, praised local residents for their role in the operation.
He said: “Officers have detained a Cwmbran man and seized a substantial amount of cannabis following a warrant in Oakfield this morning.
“Operations like today’s are often helped with information provided by the public.
“Tackling drug supply and protecting the public from illegal drugs and associated crime is a priority for us; this warrant demonstrates that information you provide around illegal drugs has the potential to make a huge impact on your community.
“Please continue to report any concerns and information you have to us.”
