A husband and wife have been jailed after being caught with a massive drugs haul worth over £13,000 at an industrial estate unit in Merthyr Tydfil whilst their children were present.

Curtis Price, 29, and Sarah Price, 25, were spotted by police driving at speed in a black BMW at Abercanaid Industrial Estate on 15th May before entering a unit and locking it behind them.

When officers detained the couple and searched the premises, they discovered a shocking array of drugs and equipment including 133g of cocaine worth up to £7,000, 67.88g of crack cocaine worth £7,000, and heroin deals worth £450.

The unit also contained drug preparation equipment including bicarbonate of soda, ammonia bottles, weighing scales, and two large knives.

Phone evidence revealed Curtis Price was deeply involved in supplying class A drugs, with Sarah Price helping with deliveries and drug preparation.

Both defendants, from Tremgarth, Trecynon, Aberdare, pleaded guilty to three counts of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and possession of criminal property.

In mitigation, Curtis Price’s barrister Hywel Davies said his client had lost his job due to mental health issues and felt pressure to provide for his family, wanting to “give his children a better life” and ensure the family had “enough money to live off.”

Sarah Price’s defence barrister Elin Morgan described her client’s involvement as stemming from “naivety” about the severity of the situation, saying she had “no influence on those above her in the chain.”

At Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Friday, Judge Richard Kember sentenced Curtis Price to three years and six months imprisonment, whilst Sarah Price received three years imprisonment.
