A 35-year-old man has been sentenced to prison following a shocking hit-and-run collision in Cardiff that left a young girl injured.
Kurtis Dwyer, from Grangetown, was jailed for 14 months at Cardiff Crown Cour t yesterday (Monday, March 3) after pleading guilty to dangerous driving.
The incident occurred around 5.50pm on Sunday, March 24, 2024, during the school Easter holidays on Sloper Road. CCTV footage captured a grey BMW speeding along the road before mounting the pavement, striking a little girl, and fleeing the scene. 🚨
Dwyer was arrested a month after the collision, and the vehicle was recovered for forensic examination.
Fortunately, the young victim sustained only minor physical injuries, but the incident has had a significant emotional impact on both her and her family.
A spokesperson for the force stated: “While we welcome the outcome at court, we acknowledge that the little girl and her family continue to suffer severe emotional impact as a result of Dwyer’s reckless and dangerous actions.”
