A 22-year-old man who ran a major drug operation in Cardiff has been sentenced to prison following a successful police investigation.

Amara Harris, who operated the ‘Omari’ drug line, was caught after CCTV footage showed him topping up his phone at a Pontcanna shop in an unlicensed black Audi on June 14.

Officers found Harris at a property in Bedford Street, Roath, on July 16, where they discovered digital scales, thousands in cash, and the phone used for drug operations. He had been sending bulk messages to customers arranging crack cocaine and heroin deals between April and July 2024.

Harris pleaded guilty to drug supply charges and driving offences, receiving a 41-month sentence at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Monday.

The arrest was part of a larger operation by Cardiff and Vale Organised Crime Team that saw 25 arrests in July 2024, with officers seizing 250g of crack cocaine, £17,000 in cash, and shutting down 21 drug lines. 💪
