A Cardiff man has been sentenced to 54 months behind bars for breaking into a house and taking items including a games console and an e-scooter.
The break-in
Officers were called to Aberystwyth Street in Splott at around 5.20am on July 22 after a property was broken into. A Nintendo Switch, mobile phone, wallet and its contents, and an e-scooter were all taken from the address.
The pursuit
Lloyd Paterson, 28, of Butetown, was identified to police at the scene and efforts to locate him got under way. When officers tracked him to the Adamsdown area, he attempted to run but was chased on foot and caught shortly afterwards.
Sentencing
Paterson pleaded guilty to burglary dwelling and theft – no violence at Cardiff Crown Court on February 24. He was handed a 54-month prison sentence on March 31.
Detective Chief Inspector Catherine Loosemore said: “Paterson entered the victims’ home and stole from them which undoubtedly has had an impact on their sense of safety. I hope this sentence goes some way in helping them feel safe in their home once more.”
