A motorcyclist has died in a crash shortly after taking part in a funeral convoy for a 14-year-old boy with motor neurone disease.

Chris Bailey died in an incident near his home in Hay-on-Wye on Friday, 19th December. He was one of a number of bikers who paid tribute to Kyle Sieniawski, one of the youngest people in the UK ever to be diagnosed with motor neurone disease.

Mr Bailey was a member of the Valley Commandos MC Powys chapter. A fundraiser set up in his memory said: “If you’re here, you’ll know that Chris sadly passed away on Friday, 19th December whilst riding home from a funeral ride to support superhero Kyle. Chris was a loved and much-respected member of the Valley Commandos MC Powys chapter.”

Kyle’s family also shared a tribute to Mr Bailey on Kyle’s MND Story Facebook page. They said: “We’re absolutely devastated to hear that one of the bikers tragically lost his life whilst travelling home from Kyle’s funeral.

“Chris Bailey was a valued member of the Powys Chapter Valley Commandos and to lose his life after doing such an amazing gesture is just cruel beyond words.

“Our hearts are breaking for his family, and Christmas is just days away. Life can be so cruel. We’re thinking of all his family, friends, and also his comrades at the Valley Commandos. Heaven has gained another angel way too soon.”
