Police have detained a suspect after numerous gravestones were damaged at Connah’s Quay Cemetery over the weekend, leaving local families devastated. 💔

Local councillor David Richardson witnessed the aftermath of the incident: “When I first arrived there I could see half-a-dozen people stood at graves. It upset me to see family members with tears in their eyes.”

The vandalism, which saw multiple headstones kicked over, has been described as a “trail of destruction” by Richardson, who represents the Golftyn ward. He was alerted to the situation on Saturday morning by one of the affected families.

North Wales Police have confirmed an arrest but stated they would not be making any additional comments at this time.
