Two men from Abertillery who admitted selling cocaine across the Gwent Valleys over the course of a year have been sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court.
Kyle Williams, 38, of Hill Crest View, Cwmtillery, received four years in prison while Simon Farr, 54, of Barker Avenue, was handed a 30-month sentence.
The operation
The pair ran a cocaine supply network between April 1, 2024 and March 29, 2025, with Williams directing the enterprise and using Farr to carry out deliveries on his behalf.
Prosecutor Tom Roberts told the court: “Farr was working on behalf of Williams as a runner. Williams played a significant role in this operation with Farr playing a lesser role.”
Both men pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine. Williams also admitted a further charge of possession with intent to supply the class A drug.
Weapons discovery
When officers searched Farr’s home, they recovered an arsenal including swords, machetes, daggers and five firearms. He was not charged in connection with the weapons.
Criminal histories
Williams had 13 previous convictions spanning 24 offences, while Farr had 12 convictions covering 26 offences. Despite their lengthy records, neither man had any prior convictions relating to drug supply. Farr had not been in trouble with the law since 1999.
Defence arguments
Jac Brown, representing father-of-three Williams, told the court his client had developed a £500-a-week cocaine habit and had accumulated a “significant drug debt”.
Sol Hartley, acting for Farr, said: “The defendant was vulnerable and was taking orders. He was at the bottom of the pecking order.”
Mr Hartley added that his client had recently been tested for bone marrow cancer. Farr, who is unemployed, has suffered poor health since a motorbike accident in 2002.
It was said in mitigation for both men that they had entered guilty pleas at the earliest opportunity and were addicted to the drugs they were selling.
Sentencing
Recorder Andrew Hammond told the defendants: “You were both selling directly to users. The fact that you were supplying cocaine for a year is an aggravating factor.”
Williams was jailed for four years and Farr received a 30-month sentence. Both men will serve up to 40 per cent of their time in custody before being released on licence. A proceeds of crime hearing is due to take place later this year.
