Two drug dealers have been jailed for a combined total of five years and two months following a police warrant in Aberdare.

Sian Jones, 52, of Maes Yr Deri, Aberaman, and Gavin Vokins, 39, of Cromer Street, Abercwmboi, were sentenced at Merthyr Crown Court on Friday, October 31.

The pair were arrested after South Wales Police executed a drugs warrant on Sunday, May 4, at a property on Cae Coed in Cwmbach, Aberdare, following concerns from local residents about Class A drug use.

Officers discovered evidence of drug supply on Vokins’ mobile phone and seized cash, drug paraphernalia, and multiple drugs including cannabis, Valium, and cocaine from his home and his white Fiat Panda.

A search of Jones’ home revealed significant amounts of cash and multiple mobile phones. She had attempted to delete messages from her phone before police arrived.

Jones was sentenced to 31 months for:

  • Possess with intent to supply Class A – cocaine
  • Possess with intent to supply Class A – heroin
  • Possess Class B – cannabis

Vokins was sentenced to 31 months for:

  • Possess Class B – cannabis
  • Possess with intent to supply Class A – cocaine
  • Possess with intent to supply Class A – heroin
  • Possess with intent to supply Class A – crack cocaine

Neighbourhood Inspector Duncan Mitchell said: “The recovery of cash, drugs, and paraphernalia suggests a well-organised operation possibly linked to larger networks.

“The serious nature of the charges against both suspects underline the severity of the offences related to drug trafficking laws.

“This case not only reflects our commitment to addressing drug issues but also underscores the importance of community involvement in reporting suspicious activities.”
