A man has been charged after an XL bully dog attacked a 12-year-old girl.

Officers attended to reports of a dog attack on 7 October at a house in Nantyglo, Blaenau Gwent.

A 12-year-old girl was taken to hospital and has since been discharged, but has been left with life-changing injuries.

A 37-year-old man from Brynmawr has been charged with possessing a banned breed without a licence and in charge of a dog dangerously out of control in a public place.

He has also been charged with being in possession of an offensive weapon in a private place.

At the time, the XL bully was seized and destroyed.

The man is due to appear at Newport Magistrates’ Court on 9 December.
