A Wrexham man has been jailed for more than four years after he attacked a taxi driver and stole his phone in a random assault.
Jordan Roberts, 27, of Bryn Goleu, Southsea, Wrexham, appeared at Mold Crown Court on 25 November where he admitted to robbery.
In March this year, Roberts was a passenger in a taxi near Rose Hill in Wrexham when he suddenly launched an unprovoked attack on the driver, punching him to the head and stealing his phone before fleeing the scene.
Roberts was located and arrested later that same day.
He was sentenced to four years and two months in prison.
Detective Constable Harriet Simmons said: “This was a random attack on a person who was just trying to do his job. Violence is never acceptable, and we will continue to pursue anyone inflicting harm and distress in our communities.”
