A Cwmbran man has been handed a suspended prison sentence after admitting to possessing more than 600 indecent images of children.
Ryan Eustace, aged 34, appeared at Cardiff Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to creating hundreds of the most serious category of child sex abuse images. The court heard that between November 2020 and February last year, Eustace had made 274 category A images – the most severe classification – alongside 211 category B images and 142 category C images.
The defendant, of Hawkes Ridge in Ty Canol, also admitted having 96 prohibited images of a child in his possession. Additionally, he pleaded guilty to affray, which occurred on 26th March 2025.
Judge Lucy Crowther sentenced Eustace after hearing evidence that suggested a realistic prospect of rehabilitation. He received an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
As part of his sentence, Eustace must complete a 12-day mental health treatment requirement and a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement. He will be registered as a sex offender for the next 10 years.
The court also ordered him to pay £150 in costs and a £156 surcharge.
