A woman from Abergavenny has been given a suspended prison sentence after sending explicit sexual content to a 14-year-old boy.
Chloe Egerton, now 25, of Tre Fedw Road, Pandy, sent the teenager a video of herself masturbating with a hairbrush, another video of herself undressing, and photos of her breasts and vagina when she was 23 in 2023.
Cardiff Crown Court heard the victim felt “uncomfortable” after receiving the films and pictures.
Following her arrest, Egerton provided a prepared statement to police which read: “I have learning difficulties. I am on the autistic spectrum. If I had known he was 14, I would never have sent them.”
Prosecutor Jenny Yeo told the court: “An aggravating feature of this case is that there is a significant disparity in age.”
Egerton pleaded guilty to two counts of engaging in sexual communication with a child and two counts of causing a child aged 13 to 15 to look at an image of sexual activity. She has no previous convictions.
Defence barrister Julia Cox said in mitigation: “She has never been in trouble with the police before and it is highly unlikely she will be back before the courts in relation to any form of criminality.”
The court heard Egerton works on her family’s farm and “leads a limited independent lifestyle”.
Judge Lucy Crowther said the defendant was “vulnerable” and “has been taken advantage of in the past”.
Egerton was sentenced to four months’ imprisonment, suspended for 12 months. She must observe an electronically monitored curfew for two months between 8pm and 6am, register as a sex offender for seven years, and pay a statutory victim surcharge.
